As her explosive defamation trial with her ex-husband Johnny Depp continues this week, the petition to remove Hollywood actress Amber Heard from Aquaman 2 has now surpassed four million signatures.

The Change.org petition was started by a British citizen, Jeanne Larson, in late 2020, after it was reported that Depp, 58, had been asked to step down from his role as Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise by Warner Bros.

The online petition is almost at 4,500,000 signatures, making it one of the most popular on Change.org.

The DC sequel, in which Heard plays Aquaman’s (Jason Momoa) love interest Mera, wrapped production earlier this year, with director James Wan confirming the film was completed in January.

Aquaman 2 is set to be released in March 2023.

Meanwhile, the explosive trial is scheduled to resume today, May 16, with both Heard and Depp expected to return to the witness stand after being cross-examined by their respective legal experts.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star has sued Heard for $50 million in retaliation for a 2018 op-ed in the Washington Post in which she implied Depp abused her during their relationship.

Heard’s article, according to the Rum Diary star, cost him major movie deals and harmed his professional career in Hollywood.
