Ushna Shah applauds the recent trend of employing South Asian actors in leading parts in Hollywood films.

Ms. Marvel, Never Have I Ever, and other projects have been praised for spreading South Asian culture on a large scale.

The Parizaad actress recently praised Netflix’s hit period drama Bridgerton for its good portrayal of South Asian characters.

Taking to Twitter on Friday, Shah, 32, commented on the second season of the hit series and wrote, “Bridgerton has created so much place for colour in entertainment. God bless Shonda Rhimes. Being seen in important characters and not just token ones is a wonderful thing, finally.”

The Sharma sisters, played by two South Asian actresses, were brought to the franchise in the second season of the Shondaland-backed series.

Charithra Chandran, a rookie, plays Edwina Sharma, while Simone Ashley plays Kate Sharma.
