In a Barbie world, it’s Ken! Warner Bros has released the first image of Ryan Gosling’s Ken, after the release of the first look still of Margot Robbie in her Barbie avatar for the upcoming live-action adaptation of the legendary dolls that swept over the world. Barbie, directed by Oscar candidate Greta Gerwig, has been generating a lot of anticipation in the lead-up to its premiere.

The film will star Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Hari Nef, Will Ferrell, Issa Rae, and Michael Cera, as well as Gosling and Robbie, and will bring the famed Mattel dolls to life. The first look still of Gosling’s Ken has wowed the internet, as he flaunts his platinum blonde hair and washboard abs while dressed in a denim co-ord. Ken’s underpants, which were visible above his jeans and seemed to mirror the Calvin Klein look with his name emblazoned on the waistband, were the tiniest feature in the photo.

In an earlier interview with ET, cast member Simu Liu remained tight-lipped about the film’s plot but lauded Gosling, saying, “He’s definitely, like, a gym in the morning, gym after work kinda guy.” According to rumors, Liu will play a version of Ken in the film. Though he refused to reveal any plot details about the film, Liu did say,  “I feel like July of next year when it comes, people are gonna be really, really surprised.” The picture is still a long way from the beach, with a release date of July 21, 2023.
