Avengers: Endgame was a hit with everyone. Out-of-shape One of many funny moments was with Chris Hemsworth. While it was meant to be funny, some fans were angry. The series was so overblown that it was called the “fat Thor” controversy.

Chris will reprise his role in ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’. Avengers: Endgame featured an overweight Thor. Many who saw the film praised the makers for reimagining the character. Others mocked them for mocking fat people.

Christopher Markus, one of Endgame’s screenwriters, called the character a “depressive alcoholic.” He blamed himself for failing to prevent Asgard’s destruction in Thor: Ragnarok’s end.

What is the outcome for a man who has failed so egregiously and lost so much? In an interview with the media, Markus stated “We wondered, ‘Okay, well, what if he does become a sort of depressive alcoholic?’ And the weight gain was just part and parcel of that state of mind, “he continued.

When the trailer for Thor: Love And Thunder was released back in April of this year, the fat Thor debate resurfaced on social media. Some people said they would love to see a unique and modern Chris avatar, while others criticized Marvel for using this aspect of the character for amusement only.

After seeing the trailer, one Twitter user mocked Marvel because he expected to see another fat-phobic character. “After watching the Thor Love and Thunder teaser I am again sure they gonna make Thor a dummy and joker…The movie will be dominated by She Thor and Gorr the God Butcher… After Avengers End game fat Thor humiliation now one more Thor humiliation awaits.” One critic said, “If Marvel had any guts, they’d let Thor stay fat.”
