Dermot Mulroney Starring in the New ‘Scream’ Horror Film

- Dermot Mulroney has joined the cast of the next Scream sequel.
- The actor is best known for playing Julia Roberts’ best friend in My Best Friend’s Wedding.
- Hayden Panettiere will reprise her role as Ghostface from 2011’s Scream 4.
The premise of Dermot Mulroney’s new film is being kept under wraps, but it “continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter,” according to the studios.
Mulroney will play a cop in the film, injecting some new life into the franchise. (Wishing you luck in your job search.)
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who worked together on the film Radio Silence, are back as directors, while James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick are back as writers.

Mulroney has a long list of dramatic and romantic film credits dating back to the late 1980s, but his most well-known role was in Best Friend’s Wedding in 1997, in which he played a man engaged to a woman played by Cameron Diaz whose upcoming marriage is thrown into disarray by his female best friend, played by Roberts.

His other credits include The Family Stone, David Fincher’s Zodiac, Park Chan-Stoker, wook’s, and Insidious: Chapter 3. He’s a fan of Arrested Development and The Righteous Gemstones, as well as Hanna, a new USA action series. He most recently starred in Sam Raimi’s Columbia Pictures feature Umma, which also starred Sandra Oh.
