A early draught of the script was written by Dave Callaham, who also created Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The studio is presently on the lookout for authors to work on the project.

The picture will be produced by Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors behind Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War, via their AGBO label.

The original 1997 film, directed by Ron Clements and Jon Musker, was a musical adaptation of the Greek myth in which the hero must defend Olympus from Hades, the God of the Underworld.
