Fans have been grieving the end of their beloved Guardians of the Galaxy franchise as it approaches its conclusion. James Gunn stated earlier this year that the franchise’s third installment will be the final installment, with fan-favorite characters and plots coming to an end. Gunn recently tweeted about how Chris Pratt, the threequel’s major character, gave an emotional farewell to the crew on the final day of filming.

While responding to a fan’s comment about the franchise’s early backlash, the director stepped out and provided an anecdote about Pratt’s inspirational final words on the franchise on the final day of filming. “When GotG was introduced, I recall folks and fans questioning, ‘Do we really need this?” the fan said.

“And the cast & crew & I were constantly barraged by articles like this (Guardians went on to make more money than the initial films of all the other characters.),”  Gunn continued, attaching an online article titled “Guardians of the Galaxy Will Be a Flop By Marvel Standards,” according to Comicbook.

Later, Gunn remarked that Pratt highlighted some of these headlines in his speech, which had slandered the franchise prior to its release.”I knew of this article because @prattprattpratt gave a beautiful speech on the last day of shooting Vol 3 where he listed off a minute’s worth of headlines & quotes like this.”  Gunn wrote on Twitter.
