A jury found in favour of Johnny Depp in his libel lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard on Wednesday, confirming his claim that Heard invented charges of abuse by Depp before and during their brief marriage.

After a broadcast trial that evolved into a spectacle of a brutal marriage, the decision might help the singer repair his image, or so he hopes. Throughout the trial, Depp supporters would camp out overnight for prized courtroom seats. Those who couldn’t get in would assemble on the street to cheer Depp and jeer Heard whenever they passed by.

Depp made a statement on Instagram minutes after the decision was announced.
