Katherine Ryan and Jimmy Carr are recognized for their tight friendship, to the point where they don’t mind ripping each other to shreds in vicious roasts.

Backstage with Katherine Ryan, a new Amazon Prime Video series in which the Canadian comedian gives a behind-the-scenes peek at what her fellow comics get up to and talk about during a live performance, exemplifies this.

In the first episode, Jimmy, the host of 8 Out of 10 Cats, appears alongside Katherine, as well as her co-writer Geoff Northcott, Seann Walsh,

Desiree Burch, the narrator of Too Hot To Handle, and Ted Lasso actor Nick Mohammed.

‘Jimmy’s had a lot of work done,’ Geoff says to Katherine as they brainstorm possible Jimmy-related jokes. “What the f**k is that?” he asks, his face blank.

‘He’d love it,’ Katherine responds, emphasizing how much her pal enjoys taking the piss out of him.

Katherine is backstage with curlers in her hair, discussing with her peers, when she announces that she is going to get ready because she has her own ‘dedicated makeup area.’

‘Isn’t this an emergency room?’ Jimmy responds, and Katherine quips that it’s a ‘special effects unit.’

‘The same people who did Jurassic Park,’ Jimmy says, eliciting a round of applause from the audience.

Katherine went on stage during the stand-up concert at London’s Roundhouse in Camden to introduce each of the artists performing in the round-up.

Jimmy won the coveted last spot, and the host took advantage of his introduction to poke fun at his cosmetic treatments once more.

‘With the surgery, Jimmy and I strive to outdo each other. We play a costly and life-threatening game,’ she told the enthusiastic audience.

‘I informed my doctor the other day that I want 80s t*ts.’ You know, the ones that look even more false than Jimmy’s new hair,’ she said.

Katherine had an amazing comeback in February of last year against a troll who felt compelled to warn her that she’d ‘gone too far with plastic surgery.’

‘Hello Clare, In 2004, I received breast implants and nothing else. My d**k b***h, suck my d**k b***h. Have a wonderful day! ‘X,’ she replied, her witticisms on full display.
