Katie and John follow each other on Instagram, proving they’re still friends. John defended his ex-girlfriend online this week.

John responded in the comments section to the commenter who said that Katie “is the reason she can’t get a guy,” he said, “You will speak a finite number of words throughout your life.”

He replied,  “I urge you to speak more kindly, especially about someone you don’t know. I have never been so supported or unconditionally loved by a partner. Assuming and implying that Katie is doing something wrong does not sit right with me. The internet can be a mean place—let’s not add to it.”

In 2021, John and Katie first connected while watching The Bachelorette’s season 17. Despite Katie sending him home in week two of the competition, they got back together and began dating when her romance with winner Blake Moynes didn’t have a happy ending.

Just a few days before summer officially began, however, the pair announced on June 20 that they were splitting up.

John writes,”The decision was not made lightly and it was obviously not an easy one to make,: added, “I appreciate every one of you that has supported us throughout this journey. We could not (and would not) be here without you.”
