Mary Mara, an actress known for her roles in ER and Criminal Minds, has died. She was 61.
The actress’ body was discovered Sunday morning after she appeared to have drowned while swimming in St. Lawrence River in Cape Vincent
Her film, television and stage career spanned more than three decades.

Mary T. Mara, a veteran of television dramas, was discovered dead in a river on Monday, according to New York State Police.

The 61-year-old actress, known for her roles in “ER,” “Nash Bridges,” and “Law & Order,” drowned while swimming in the St. Lawrence River near the town of Cape Vincent on Sunday morning, according to state police.

Troopers and Cape Vincent emergency medical personnel discovered the find early Monday morning.

“Mary was one of the finest actresses I ever met,” Mara’s manager, Craig Dorfman, said by email. “She was electric, funny and a true individual. Everyone loved her. She will be missed.”
