• Prince Charles addressed the Queen as ‘mummy’ at the Diamond Jubilee 10 years ago.
• He paid tribute to her lifetime of “selfless service” at the Platinum Jubilee concert.
• The Queen did not attend this year’s event, due to mobility concerns.

Prince Charles talked of the “outpouring of warmth and affection” displayed by millions of Britons around the country during a sound festival featuring the world’s best music acts, all come to honour the record-breaking Queen’s 70 years on the throne.

As a patriotic sea of red, white, and blue erupted down London’s famous Mall, Charles, 73, stated, “The scale of this evening’s celebration – and the outpouring of warmth and affection over this whole Jubilee weekend – is our way of saying thank you – from your family, the country, the Commonwealth, in fact, the whole world. On behalf of us all, I wanted to pay my own tribute to your lifetime of selfless service.”

Prince Charles further said, “Your family now spans four generations. You are our Head of State. And you are also our mother.”

The Prince, however, made a special mention of the Queen’s late husband and father, the late Prince Philip, who died in April at the age of 99. Charles observed, “Your ‘strength and stay’ is much missed this evening but I am sure he is here in spirit.”
Meanwhile, Her Majesty was sad that she would not be able to attend both the Epsom Derby and the performance today. According to royal insiders quoted in The Mirror, the Queen is feeling “much better after resting” and intends to attend tomorrow’s exciting climax of the People’s Pageant in London.
