Due to two positive Covid instances in his All-Starr band, Sir Ringo Starr has to postpone the balance of his North American tour.

After keyboardist Edgar Winter and guitarist Steve Lukather both contracted the flu, the former Beatles drummer, 81, was forced to reschedule a number of gigs.

‘We are deeply sorry for disappointing the fans,’ Sir Ringo stated in a statement. ‘It’s lovely to be back on the road, and we’ve been having so much fun performing for you all.’

‘But, as we all know, [Covid] is still here, and these things happen despite our best efforts,’ he continued.

The gigs that were scheduled to take place in June in a number of US locations, including Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Atlanta, have been rescheduled until September, with precise dates to be determined.

The music legend thanked his followers for their patience at the end of his speech.

‘I send you all peace and love, and we can’t wait to see you all again in the fall,’ he wrote.

Winter, 75, a 50-year musician and songwriter, had already missed three gigs due to the infection, and Lukather, 64, best known for forming the 1970s rock band Toto, is now unable to continue touring as well.

Fans were naturally unhappy, but they remained empathetic, with one commenting on social media, ‘This is a shame.’ Wishing the members of the All-Star Band who have tested positive for HIV a fast recovery.’
