Shirtless David Beckham asked his wife Victoria whether she fancies “a piece”, as he held up the Victoria Sponge cake he made.

The 47-year-old football icon joined in the Platinum Jubilee celebrations by baking a Victoria Sponge and documenting his progress on Instagram.

“Platinum jubilee Victoria sponge, yes made by me!!” the father-of-four beams as he holds up the finished product, shirtless.

“Fancy a piece,” he added next, before tagging his wife Victoria, 48, in the post.

David’s message was then reposted by the former Spice Girl on Instagram, along with an emoji of a brunette woman surrounded by love hearts.

In a video greeting broadcast on Buckingham Palace for the Platinum Jubilee, the former England captain professed his appreciation for the Queen.

David, who was awarded an OBE in 2003, was among the celebrities who paid tribute to the monarch during Friday night’s BBC Party at the Palace celebrations.

“For 70 years you have worked so incredibly hard, not just for the people of our country but for the whole commonwealth,” he said in his greeting to the Queen.

“Thank you ma’am for your dedication, your service and for everything that you represent,” he continued. David concluded by saying: “Our country owes you so much.”

His video message was part of a sequence that included projections onto the side of Buckingham Palace, as well as performances by Sir Elton John, 75, and others.

David had paid respect to the Queen in a social media post earlier this week, and the former Manchester United footballer was one of the celebs who had recently marked the Diamond Jubilee.

He wrote in a post on Instagram a few days ago: “Today, we celebrate our Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. 70 years of service and inspirational leadership of our country.”

David continued the post on social media by saying to fans: “Let’s come together and commemorate her remarkable reign with a great British party these next few days.”

Victoria published a series of images yesterday, showing her in stances similar to the Queen’s and wearing a headscarf, as the Monarch is known to do.

Victoria sits on the gold throne she sat on during her wedding to David, complete with a portrait of the Queen on her regal throne.

The fashion designer wrote: “70 years of being an inspiration to so many! Including me, clearly! Congratulations to Her Majesty The Queen on The Platinum Jubilee, what an achievement.”
