Tabu discusses her upcoming film Khufiya

Tabu, who recently starred in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2,’ is ecstatic about her upcoming film Khufiya.’ Vishal Bhardwaj produced and directed the Netflix film. Tabu said Khufiya had Bhardwaj’s unique touch, describing the Netflix film as a deep dive into the realm of espionage. The film is based on Amar Bhushan’s classic spy novel “Escape to Nowhere,” which was inspired by genuine events. Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Ashish Vidyarthi also star in the film.

“It (the film) has come out really well,” the 50-year-old actress told PTI in an interview. It’s thrilling, but different, like a classic Vishal film with his signature touch. We also have a fantastic ensemble cast, and it was so much fun collaborating with them. It is a personal film for all of us because we shot it quietly in Delhi, then in Canada. It’s a world that will, hopefully, pull you in.”
Further, she told, “Khufiya is a passion project of Bhardwaj and it was conceptualized long ago but only went on floors last year due to Covid 19 pandemic. It’s the world of intelligence, agents, espionage but not like a regular spy thriller that you’ve seen”.

Krishna Mehra, an R&AW operative, is assigned to track down the mole selling India’s defence secrets while juggling her dual identities as a spy and a lover in Khufiya. After popular and renowned films such as Maqbool (2003) and Haider (2007), this is Vishal and Tabu’s first collaboration (2013).
Tabu will also appear in ‘Kuttey,’ a Vishal Bhardwaj production in which his son, Aasmaan Bhardwaj, makes his directorial debut. Naseeruddin Shah also appears in ‘Kuttey.’
