Dakota Fanning will reconnect with Denzel Washington for the third instalment of the ‘The Equalizer’ trilogy.

According to insiders, Fanning has joined the cast of the threequel, having previously worked with Washington in the 2004 blockbuster ‘Man on Fire.’ Antoine Fuqua, the director of the previous two films, is back for the third, with Washington reprising his role as Robert McCall.

In 2014, the film ‘The Equalizer’ featured McCall, a former US Marine turned CIA intelligence officer who unwillingly returns to duty to defend a teenage prostitute from Russian mafia members.

It was followed by ‘The Equalizer 2’ in 2018, which had Washington’s McCall return to revenge the murder of his close buddy. Richard Wenk will write the third feature, which will be released in theatres in the United States on September 1, 2023.

Fanning is now starring in Showtime’s ‘The First Lady,’ and will next be seen in Andrew Scott’s ‘Ripley.’
