Actor Tom Hanks lost his temper in New York on Wednesday when his wife Rita Wilson was knocked down by some too exuberant admirers. The incident occurred as the pair walked out of a restaurant, surrounded by admirers. Rita nearly collapses as the supporters push her forward, prompting an enraged Tom to yell at them, as shown in a video of the event.

The actor turns around aggressively and says, “Back the f*** off! Knocking over my wife!”  as their security crew orders the supporters to go back.

The security detail says as the supporters step back, “What are you guys doing. Move back.” Then Tom comes over to Rita, who has already gotten inside the car. “Sorry about that Tom,” paparazzi can be heard saying.

Fans rallied with Tom when the video gained traction on the internet. One user tweeted, “He was well within his rights to get angry. People need to know personal space.” Another individual warned, “Fans can get too close. This was scary.”

Commented another admirer, “Just how pushy do you need to be to get even Tom Hanks angry like this,” Many people commented that this was the first time they had ever seen Tom lose his cool.

Tom is presently promoting Elvis, a biopic of singer-actor Elvis Presley, which he will star in. In the film, Tom plays Elvis Presley’s manager, Tom Parker, and Austin Butler plays the artist himself. The picture will be released on June 24th, directed by Baz Luhrmann.
