With all of the focus on Cyberpunk 2077’s original release, it’s easy to overlook another interesting project in the works: an anime spinoff from renowned studio Trigger. (Promare, Little Witch Academia, and Kill la Kill were all created by the same team.)

The Netflix series was initially announced in 2020, and now the first trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has been released. It’s difficult to determine exactly what’s going on in the one-minute video, but it looks great.

If you’re wondering about the premise, it’s as follows:

Edgerunners is a 10-episode solo series about a street boy attempting to live in a futuristic metropolis fascinated with technology and bodily alteration. With nothing to lose, he decides to become an edgerunner — a mercenary criminal also known as a cyberpunk — in order to stay alive.
