Game of Thrones is still breaking records.
Game of Thrones, the TV series that debuted on the global stage precisely a decade ago, only grew in popularity over time, eventually concluding its eight-season run in 2019. While the show’s finale did not impress the audience, and many were unhappy, one cannot dispute that the creators managed to keep them hooked on the show for 9 years. But, even after four years, it appears that the show is still breaking records.
Game of Thrones, adapted from George R.R. Martin’s famed work, has expanded and garnered a large fanbase throughout the years. The first prequel series (House of the Dragon) is almost ready to come out, it looks like the original is still selling the most.
According to the media, the TV series has reclaimed the top spot as the most pirated show in 2022. While WandaVision and The Mandalorian held the title in the years following GOT season 8, it appears that people are now rewriting the show ahead of House Of The Dragon’s August release. The survey calculated piracy by taking into account internet searches for illicit streaming.
Game of Thrones has the most monthly searches (8,560), followed by Euphoria (7,960). And the evergreen Friends is in third place with 5,060 searches. Statistics can only help us prepare for the current craze that the House of the Dragon is riding. It’s hardly a stretch to predict that the new prequel will be well received not only globally, but also in the world of piracy.
