Lenny Von Dohlen Twin Peaks star dies at age 63
Lenny Von Dohlen, the actor best known for playing Harold Smith in Twin Peaks, has died at the age of 63.
On Thursday, 7 July, his sister Catherine posted a message update on Facebook announcing his passing. His agent later confirmed the information.
No cause of death was released.
“The world lost a magnificent man on 5 July,”she wrote in the post. “Brother Len was passionate about everything and everyone.
“He was always leading; whether it be riveting conversation, an artistic creation or a trip to new places. He loved a good laugh. He continues on his spiritual journey. Living life full in his memory.”
She also posted an image of the two embraced in a sweet hug.
Fans jumped to the comments section of Catherine’s post and mourned the soft-spoken and doomed character of Harold- who Lenny played in Twin Peaks.
One said: “No matter how many time I watch Twin Peaks, Harold’s story always brings me to tears.
“He put everything into his roles, so much emotion and passion. He was a truly awesome actor.”
Another fan stated: “He had a beautiful soul that was in his work and his living.”
A third mentioned: “He was a fine actor, and he was so integral to the world of Twin Peaks.”
“I feel lucky to have met Lenny a couple of times. He was so nice and sweet with me as I gushed about Electric Dreams and Twin Peaks,” another recalled.
In David Lynch’s ground-breaking crime series from the 1990s, Von Dohlen played the agoraphobic Harold. He then reprised the same character in the cult prequel movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.
In addition to Twin Peaks, Von Dohlen has had appearances in a variety of movies and TV shows, including the 1983 Oscar-winning picture Tender Mercies and the 1997 family sequel Home Alone 3, in which he portrayed a villain.
His most well-known acting performance was in the sci-fi movie Electric Dreams, which he starred in.
Parts in Miami Vice, The Equalizer, Red Dwarf, and Psych were among von Dohlen’s TV credits.
