Hira Mani is now considered one of the top stars in the drama world. After establishing herself in the business, Hira Mani began endorsing a wide variety of brands and performing in concerts and exhibitions all over the world. Recently, Hira has been promoting a skin lightening product. The ad claims that you can whiten your skin in just three days, which is standard “click bait” language.

The murder of George Floyd a year ago precipitated the birth of the Black Lives Matter movement. Since then, people everywhere have pondered the pervasiveness of subtle forms of discrimination based on skin tone. Many companies had to adjust their strategy as a result, with one major skincare company even dropping the word “whitening” from its name. Having conversations about one’s own skin tone became more commonplace. The Pakistani actress Ayeza Khan received a lot of criticism for marketing a whitening product, and other actresses and models spoke out against the colorism they experienced in the country. Regardless, Hira Mani has gone and promoted a skin lightener.

While there has been a lot of talk and awareness about the need for whitening products, the internet was not pleased with the advertising, and Hira received criticism for promoting one in 2022.
