John Legend discussed the reasons why his friendship with his friend Kanye West terminated while making references to additional factors besides politics that contributed to their falling out.

In an interview with a magazine, the In My Mind singer revealed to Michael Schulman that he had broken up his friendship with the rapper by endorsing Joe Biden for president in the 2020 race.

Legend stated that their breakup was due to more factors than just him not supporting the Praise God singer during his presidential campaign.

The musician told the publication, “I don’t feel like politics should be everything in your relationships, and your connections with others shouldn’t only be dictated by who they voted for.

“However, I do think that some beliefs you have are signs of your character, and it goes without saying that this will have an impact on your friendships.

“I don’t want to live a life where politics is the only factor that determines who can and cannot be my friends.

But principles, character, and moral compass all matter, he continued.

The future of their connection is unknown, according to Legend, who added, “But he was really furious with me that I didn’t support him and I supported Joe Biden.”

He concluded by saying, “It’s up to him if he can go past it.”
