Marvel Studios announce Thunderbolts casting; First Trailer for Brie Larson’s The Marvels
Marvel Studios announced numerous important projects at the D3 Expo 2022, including Brie Lason and Iman Vellani’s next feature, The Marvels, Captain America: New World Order, and others. At the ceremony, the trailer for the next show Secret Invasion was also unveiled. Don Cheadle’s return as Rodey in Amour Wars has also been announced.
Several MCU stars attended the event, including The Marvels, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and more. Among the most interesting disclosures of the event was the first video of The Marvels, which will pick up after Ms Marvel’s post-credits scene. Captain Rambeau appeared in the footage as an astronaut alongside Nick Fury. Rambeau hits a leap point perimeter and turns into Ms Marvel as she approaches it.
Here’s a look at other major updates from the event
Fantastic Four
WandaVision director Matt Shakman will return to the MCU to helm Marvel Studios’ upcoming film, Fantastic Four. No casting announcements for the film were made at the event.
Anthony Mackie will reprise his role as Sam Wilson in Captain America: New World Order, with Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley and Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres. Tim Blake Nelson returns as Dr. Samuel Sterns, reprising his role from The Incredible Hulk from 2008
Thunderbolts stars David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/US Agent, and Florence Pugh reprising her role as Yelena Belova.
Wakanda Forever, Black Panther
At the event, new footage from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was shown. The footage allegedly showed Queen Ramonda apologising to the United Nations for attempting to steal vibranium from Wakanda following T’Challa’s death. It also included video demonstrating the Dora Milaje’s strength.
Ironheart
While a brief peek of Ironheart could be seen in the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever teaser, new Riri Williams clips were teased at the event.
Quantumania in Ant-Man and the Wasp
Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Johnathan Majors spoke about their next picture at the D23 Expo. In a statement regarding the film, Paul is quoted as saying, “This is going to be unlike anything you’ve seen from us, not to mention that man,” referring to Majors, who plays Kang.
Also displayed was fresh Loki Season 2 footage, as well as the teaser for Gael Garcia Bernal and Laura Donnelly’s Werewolf by Night, which will be released in October.
