Mrunal Thakur, who began on TV, debuted in cinema with Vitti Dandu (2014) and Love Sonia (2015). (2018). She’s been in Super 30, Batla House, Ghost Stories, Toofaan, Dhamaka, and Jersey. She once said she was stopped from auditioning for films because her face was ‘overexposed’ from TV. Mrunal claimed in an earlier interview that no director would hire her. In her early years, it took eight months to get a film.
Mrunal spoke about moving from TV to cinema and obtaining huge assignments on The Ranveer Show. stated “Earlier, getting films, jobs, auditions, and appearance tests was a daily battle. After two more tests, actors would be paired. A film would take me 6-8 months. My second film’s director said, “I’ll narrate if you like the plot.” “I don’t have to audition?” “Are you crazy? I’ll explain. I answered, “Never.””
She said, “Hard. I lack ego and self-respect sometimes. Those who said no to me, I auditioned for. Take an exam, sir. For the audition, you prepared a screenplay with 20-30 others. My TV career was going well, so other actors said, “Why are you waiting in line?” Don’t stand in line. I said, “Let’s be creative.” Before my auditions, someone said, “Why? On TV, you’re great. Your face is too overexposed for movies. You’re in daughter-in-law mode. No director will give you a shot'”
Mrunal appeared in Sita Ramam alongside Dulquer Salmaan and Rashmika Mandanna. She’s working on projects alongside Navjot Gulati, Huma Qureshi, Vikram Singh Chauhan, and Vijay Raaz. She’s in Gumraah alongside Aditya Roy Kapur. Gumraah is a Hindi version of Tamil action-thriller Thadam, directed by Vardhan Ketkar.
