Call Me Kat production on Fox has been put on indefinite stop, due to the passing of series star Leslie Jordan.

The cherished veteran actor unexpectedly died on Monday at the age of 67 following a single-car collision in Hollywood.

Jordan had finished nine episodes of the third season, which is presently running, before his passing.

Given the circumstances, a special in-memoriam portion will be added to the upcoming episode, which will run on Thursday, October 27.

Jordan has been an essential component of the series since Mayim Bialik, who plays the primary character, debuted in the first season.

Jordan was a series regular who portrayed Phil, a gay man who had recently become single and joined Kat (Bialik) as the head chef of her new cat café after she left her comfortable position as a university professor.

He was full of Southern charm and quickly established himself as one of Kat’s best friends both in and outside of work.

He will meet Jalen, a guest-starring John Griffin character, in one of the Season 3 episodes that haven’t yet aired.

Along with Bialik, Cheyenne Jackson, Kyla Pratt, Julian Gant, Swoosie Kurtz, and Christopher Rivas also appeared on-screen with Jordan.

Bialik and the rest of his cast mates shared a statement after the Emmy winner’s passing to remember their time together on set:

“There aren’t words to convey the loss we are experiencing as a cast and a Call Me Kat family. Leslie Jordan was larger than life. He was a Southern gentleman; tender, wise, naughty and hilarious. We got to know and love him at the height of his happiness and joy and it is inconceivable to imagine a world without our Leslie: the man who would spit on his contact lenses before putting them in his eyes, the man who had a story about every man in Hollywood and some of the women as well, the man who lived to make people laugh. We will be taking time to grieve and to celebrate the many gifts Leslie gave to us and to the entire world and we appreciate privacy at this time.”

Additionally, Fox Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television released statements praising Jordan as a sincere, cheerful, and incredibly brilliant performer as well as a consummate professional.

Despite having a lengthy record that spans many different genres, he may be most known to viewers for his role as Beverly Leslie in the sitcom Will & Grace, for which he won an Emmy.

He made himself a light in a sad period for the nation with his poignant and amusing Instagram posts at the height of the pandemic, which will also be remembered by social media users.

He contributed a lot of the humour to the sitcom Call Me Kat by being an equally witty and humorous presence.

Call Me Kat taking a break to mourn the loss of Jordan and consider her next move, Kat will release five more episodes.

The actors and Bialik paid tribute to Jordan in the post below.
