James Corden and Star Trek star Sir Patrick Stewart reportedly engaged in a verbal altercation at an awards event that stunned bystanders.

The conflict began when James hosted the Glamour Women of the Year event in front of a celebrity audience that included Cheryl Cole, Billie Piper, Christine Bleakley, and Lily Allen.

The drama began when theatre veteran Sir Patrick Stewart criticized the hosting techniques of James Corden while presenting the award for Film Actress of the Year.

“I want to speak to James here, it is James isn’t it?” he asked, garnering laughter from the audience.

Then, he accused the comedian of standing at the back of the stage with his hands in his pockets, as though he wished he were somewhere else as the winners came to collect their awards.

“Oh you couldn’t be more wrong sir, you couldn’t be more wrong,” a clearly offended James hit back before he continued, “But when you come up and present an award, just f***ing get on with it.”

James Corden made news last week when it was announced he was barred from a New York restaurant over a dispute involving eggs. After humbly apologizing, he was apparently unbanned and addressed it on the Late Late Show last night.
