Peacock lifts the veil and gives viewers an all-access pass to the family at the core of it all: the Brobergs, in a video published today.

The teaser shows old pictures and movies of the Brobergs’ lives before, during, and after Robert “B” Berchtold tore them to pieces.

The entire family was impacted in a variety of ways, but Jan Broberg experienced the most dread at Berchtold’s hands.

The story of Broberg’s kidnapping by the family friend, who not only groomed her but also seduced both her mother and father, is followed in both the documentary and the scripted series.

The teaser shows Broberg’s attempts to expose the monster for what he is, along with her encouraging family members, as an interviewer probes the matter more.

Additionally, viewers will witness the emotional encounter between Broberg and another woman who Berchtold had groomed and controlled.

The first time the two meet face-to-face and share memories and traumas will undoubtedly be healing as well as difficult.

A Friend of the Family centres on Broberg’s tragic true story of a childhood destroyed by a predatory adult and follows Broberg (Hendrix Yancey and Mckenna Grace) when she is both 12 and 14 years old when she is abducted by Berchtold (Jake Lacy).

The first kidnapping occurred in 1974, while the second one took place in 1976 with the entire Broberg family caught under Berchtold’s spell.

Parents Bob Broberg (Colin Hanks) and Mary Ann Broberg (Anna Paquin) encounter Berchtold in their LDS church and get entranced by the cunning man, having affairs with him both.

They are unaware of the severe harm that Berchtold is causing by having access to their children. Along with Lio Tipton playing Gail Berchtold, who is the husband of the series’ creator, Nick Antosca, Austin Stowell plays Peter Walsh, an FBI agent.

In addition to A Friend of the Family: True Evil, Netflix currently offers the documentary Abducted in Plain Sight, which recounts the incredibly terrible circumstances.

The 2017 motion picture, which was directed by renowned documentarian Skye Borgman (I Just Killed My Dad, Sins of Our Mother), provided the first glimpse into the eerie and tragic tale of the man who stole so much from an entire family.

Get both the dramatised and true narrative of what happened to Jan Broberg and her family by watching the trailer for A Friend of the Family: True Evil, which is currently available on Peacock.
