Kim Kardashian ‘feels helpless’ over Kanye West’s actions
Kim Kardashian's ex-husband Kanye West was seen storming out of his son...
Adidas and Balenciaga are moving on without Kanye West
After parting ways with the contentious rapper, the sportswear firm and the high-fashion brand have linked up for a second collaboration, which is currently available for purchase.
The line includes oversized soccer jerseys ($995), zip-up hoodies ($1,150) and matching tracksuit pants ($1,550), a sporty take on Balenciaga’s popular Hourglass bag ($3,150), and more. Bella Hadid and Isabelle Huppert are the faces of the collection’s advertising campaign.
In May, the two companies collaborated for the first time by hosting a fashion display at the New York Stock Exchange.
Offset, Candice Swanepoel, Christine Quinn, Pusha T, Megan Thee Stallion, Pharrell, and Chlo Sevigny were among the famous people seated in the front row, along with Kanye West, who was at the time a friend and partner of both Balenciaga and Adidas.
However, the rapper unveiled his own Yeezy Season 9 collection in October, which featured “White Lives Matter” T-shirts, only one day after making his runway debut at Balenciaga’s mud-covered fashion show in Paris. In the days and weeks that followed, West, 45, persisted in using the term “white supremacy” and made anti-Semitic statements without making any apologies.
The Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga partnership, led by Demna Gvasalia, the fashion house’s creative director, came to an end on October 21 when Balenciaga announced it was breaking off its relationship with West.
“Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist,” parent company Kering told WWD at the time. West’s photo was scrubbed from Balenciaga’s Instagram and website as well.
Numerous celebrities urged Adidas to sever its 10-year contract with West as a result of the rapper’s anti-Semitic outbursts. West’s 10-year partnership with Adidas has seemed precarious in recent months for a variety of reasons. Adidas, which had been the maker and distributor of the Yeezy brand since 2016 and had put the relationship “under review,” finally ended the arrangement.
While West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian has been spotted wearing pieces from the collaboration, it looks that the two brands are still working together.
