On The Voice, Gwen Stefani and husband Blake Shelton are engaging in friendly competition.

Shelton gives his wife his opinion on which artist he thinks should advance to the live rounds in a exclusive first look at the three-way knockout round between Stefani’s teen contestants Alyssa Witrado, Daysia, and Sasha Hurtado, which airs on Monday.

“Sasha I think you won this,” Shelton says after Hurtado’s soulful performance of Ed Sheeran’s “Make It Rain.” “Your singing was incredible.”

Since Stefani, 53, stole Hurtado from her team after fellow coach Camila Cabello let her go, Shelton, 46, cheekily asks the former Fifth Harmony member, “You let her go?” Cabello, 25, responds, “I’m an idiot.”

Finally, Shelton tells his wife, “I’d go with Sasha.”

“Thank you husband Blake,” Stefani says, as Shelton responds, “You’re welcome wifey.”

John Legend, another coach, concurs with Shelton in saying that the performance given by Hurtado was his “favourite.”

“Sasha, every note you hit was flawless,” he says. “When you went to the super high part of your head voice, that was flawless. I loved your vibrato. Vocally, it was a tour de force.”

The native of Dallas, Georgia, who is only 18 years old, also received praise from Cabello, who stated, “The confidence with which you executed all of that is crazy to see, and it’s crazy to be like, ‘And, she’s 18′.”

In spite of the other coaches’ effusive praise for Hurtado, Stefani claims that it will be “really complicated” for her to decide which of her contestants will advance.

“It’s beyond reason. I am completely at a loss for what to do “she says. “This is a horrible situation.”

Earlier on in the video, Stefani’s other two contestants both deliver performances that are just as exciting. A native of Fresno, California named Witrado, who is only 19 years old, was the first performer to take the stage and perform a cover of Queen’s song “Don’t Stop Me Now.”

“Alyssa, you are simply incredible,” Stefani enthuses to her friend. “It’s hard to put my finger on exactly what it is, but there’s just something special about the way you carry yourself. You simply blow my mind in every way. This makes everything a lot more difficult.”

Added Legend, 43: “Alyssa Your style is so amazing. I love your energy. When I look at some of the decisions you’ve made, I see a little bit of Gwen in both of you.”

Meanwhile, Daysia, a 17-year-old from Leavenworth, Kansas, performed Oleta Adams’ “Get Here.”

“Daysia, you’re such an old soul; you know all the references to R&B and jazz songs I grew up listening to,” Legend says. “You are truly gifted… I believe it will be difficult for Gwen to make a decision.”

Tune in to The Voice on Monday at 8 p.m. to find out the outcome of Stefani’s decision, which host Carson Daly describes as “near-impossible.” EST on NBC
