A Friend of the Family: True Evil is available on Netflix now....
Dates of Blu-ray & DVD releases for “The Banshees of Inisherin”
‘The Banshees of Inisherin’, a genre-bending film directed by Academy Award winner Martin McDonagh, received some of the highest praise from critics when screening at this year’s film festivals.
The film had its international premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival and was given the longest standing ovation of the year, lasting 15 minutes.
Following successful theatrical releases in Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States, more people from other regions will be able to watch the film now that release dates for the digital version and DVD have been set.
Just in time for the holidays, The Banshees of Inisherin will be released digitally on December 13 and physically on Blu-ray and DVD on December 20.
The Banshees of Inisherin is a tragicomedy that tells the story of a lifelong bromance gone sour, so abruptly that unexpected consequences arise for not only both parties involved but for their friends and families who have supported and watched their friendship blossom over the years.
It is similar to the absurdist black humour movies for which McDonagh is known. A big award contender for the next award season has been widely predicted to be the historical drama set in the Irish Civil War of 1923.
In a project where they were reunited with McDonagh for the first time in five years, Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson play the roles of former best friends Pádraic Silleabháin and Colm Doherty.
The three worked together on McDonagh’s feature-length directorial debut, In Bruges (2008), which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.
In a special featurette, McDonagh will explain viewers through his process of creating the movie, from the idea for the plot to his experience reuniting with Farrell and Gleeson.
Bonus features will also be included with the digital and DVD editions. Additionally, viewers will learn how the director found the ideal setting, the lovely Irish countryside, which unquestionably enhanced the film’s excellent cinematography.
A few deleted sequences with the names Chasing Colm, Colm Can’t Compose, Parents’ Grave and Peadar, Siobhan Crying Too Loud, and Stoic Equals Boring will also be included. It is crucial to remember that these extras will differ depending on the goods and the store.
The Banshees of Inisherin, a Searchlight Pictures production, also features Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan in supporting parts. Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin, and McDonagh served as producers along with McDough, who also wrote and produced the film.
Diarmuid McKeown, Ben Knight, Daniel Battsek, and Ollie Madden served as executive producers.
The highly regarded film is scheduled for a digital release on December 13 and a physical release on Blu-ray and DVD on December 20.
