James Gunn, one of the newly appointed co-chairmen and co-CEOs of the DC Universe, has addressed the fans on Twitter about his new role.

Understandably, the news of Gunn and Peter Safran’s responsibilities has drawn attention from fans of the DC universe in general. Gunn created a five-Tweet thread that expresses his gratitude and enthusiasm for these fans in an incredibly respectful and honest manner.

One of the most important things to take away from Gunn’s tweets is that this is a completely new position for him and Safran because DC Studios has never had a CEO before.

From 2018 till the present, Walter Hamada presided over the studio as president, managing works like Aquaman, Shazam, and Wonder Woman 1984. Geoff Johns, a DC comics writer primarily, has contributed in various capacities to a number of movies.

Gunn also recognised that because of these additional obligations, he and Safran will be less active on Twitter to engage with fans. He was quick to point out, though, that the two are aware of everyone and seek to impress as well as satisfy. He said the following:

“Our initial focus is on the story going forward, hammering out the new DCU, & telling the Biggest Story Ever Told across multiple films, television shows, & animated projects. We invite all of the DC fandoms from across the multiverse – and everyone else as well – into this new universe. We can’t wait to reveal more.”

Last year, Gunn, who was previously known for his original movies and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies with Marvel, made his directorial debut with DC with The Suicide Squad.

Regarding Safran, he produced previous DC projects as well as The Conjuring movie as part of his first-look agreement with Warner Bros.

Both played significant roles in The Suicide Squad spin-off series Peacemaker on HBO Max. Given this and Gunn’s tweet, it is plainly obvious that the two’s vision for the DC Universe will encompass all fans, regardless of platform.

Gunn identified the fanbases for David Ayer’s version of Suicide Squad and Legends of Tomorrow in his first tweet.

Since its underwhelming critical reception upon debut, fans have been demanding to see David Ayer’s full-fledged vision for 2016’s Suicide Squad, while the hopes for Legends of Tomorrow have arisen since the show’s demise earlier this year.

It would be difficult to find someone who comprehends fans and the kinds of stories they would like to see more than Gunn, who cannot give any guarantees.
