The cast for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which will air on Disney+, just got a little bit more heavenly. According to a report from Variety, Jay Duplass and Timothy Omundson will appear as two of Olympus’ own in the show. Shortly after Lin-Manuel Miranda’s casting announcement, the news is released.

Duplass has been cast to portray the Underworld god Hades. He is portrayed as a genius who is misunderstood and is rejected by the rest of his family.

Hades “plays his cards close to the chest” because he feels humiliated by the past. The most recent role for Duplass was in the recently revived HBO Max series Industry.

He also starred in the Netflix film The Chair with Sandra Oh. While he has a number of acting credits to his name, Mark Duplass and he are the other half of the filmmaking pair known as The Duplass Brothers.

Togetherness, Room 104, Somebody Somewhere, and numerous other projects were completed by the duo.

Omundson will take on the role of Hephaestus, the god of blacksmiths who was born with a disability. He is renowned for three qualities that set him apart from his siblings: strength, kindness, and mercy.

Omundson has just made an appearance on This Is Us and has made guest appearances on numerous more shows. He is well-known in the Supernatural fan community for playing Cain (yes, the biblical one). Among other films, Omundson appeared in Galavant and Psych.

The first season of Rick Riordan’s popular Percy Jackson and the Olympians television series will focus on adapting the first book, The Lightning Thief. It centres on 12-year-old Percy (Walker Scobell), who appears to lead a typical existence. His mother confesses that he is a demigod, not like the other kids, after he is attacked.

Percy’s mother therefore sends him to Camp Half-Blood where he can interact with other demigod kids in order to safeguard him. But the threat doesn’t stop there, as Percy embarks on a perilous mission to halt a developing war before it worsens with the aid of his new allies Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) and Grover (Aryan Simhadri).

Megan Mullally, Jason Mantzoukas, Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Tim Sharp, Dior Goodjohn, Olivea Morton, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Adam Copeland, Suzanne Cryer, and Charlie Bushnell are just a few of the other cast members who bring star power to the table.

James Bobin is directing the pilot episode, which was co-written by Riordan and Jon Steinberg. Executive producers include Steinberg, Bobin, Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, Dan Shotz, Bert Salke, Monica Owusu-Breen, Jim Rowe, Anders Engström, Jet Wilkinson, Jeremy Bell, D.J. Goldberg, and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein of Gotham Group.

The first season of the series has no set release date as of yet, but filming is nearly finished, with a 2024 target date.
