Welcome to Whose Line Is It Anywayfinal ?’s season, the programme where everything is made up and the points are irrelevant. A longtime cast member of Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Colin Mochrie, stated on November 4 through Twitter that the cast would begin filming the final season in January 2023.

Mochrie expressed his hope that viewers were enjoying the current season and thanked them for their years of support of the actors and the programme.

No matter the version, the foundation of Whose Line was a host and four improv comedy actors. Each episode of the show featured a different number and variety of games, although the most frequently featured ones were Greatest Hits, Hoedown, Props, Helping Hands, Questions Only, Scenes from a Hat, and Party Quirks.

At the conclusion of each game and each show, the host “scored” the contests and named a “winner,” despite the points being completely useless. The “show winner” was given the option of participating in a game with the host or making fun of the credits as they slid over the screen.

The improv comedy programme debuted in 1988 as a six-episode radio programme with Clive Anderson as the host.

The programme lasted from 1988 to 1999 on British television and was once again presented by Anderson. Stephen Fry, Josie Lawrence, Mike McShane, Paul Merton, and John Sessions all gave performances in the show’s early seasons.

However, after Mochrie and Ryan Stiles were added, the show’s popularity skyrocketed. Although this version of Whose Line was cancelled in 1999, it served as the inspiration for the American version, which Drew Carey hosted from 1998 to 2007 and aired on ABC and subsequently ABC Family.

Along with Wayne Brady, Greg Proops, Brad Sherwood, and Chip Esten, Mochrie and Stiles frequently appeared on the programme. Robin Williams was also a notable guest on the American rendition.

In 2013, the CW brought back Whose Line with Aisha Tyler as the host and Mochrie, Stiles, and Brady as the performers.

With each episode, the fourth performer would alternate, and a new element called a “special guest”—someone who had no prior expertise with improv—would be added.

The British version of Whose Line is available on Tubi for free if you want to watch it. HBO Max offers streaming access to the Carey seasons as well as the nine seasons of the CW reboot of the programme.
