Uunchai, a film directed by Sooraj Barjatya, opened to a solid week 1 gross of about Rs. 16 crore nett despite a relatively limited release on only about 480 screens.

The number of screenings for the movie increased over the course of the week due to the strong weekend trend. The fact that more people visited over the weekdays than on the initial ticketing day simply serves to emphasize how successful content is. Despite the premiere of a high-profile movie like Drishyam 2, which has taken over most screens, the movie only lost 15% of its audience on its second Friday compared to its initial Thursday.

Uunchai’s second Friday sales are approximately Rs. 1.25 crore net, and on Saturday and Sunday, it is anticipated to experience strong growth. On Sunday, its tenth ticketing day, it will unquestionably surpass the Rs. 20 cr cume; however, it remains to be seen if it can surpass the Rs. 30 cr nett. Uunchai would earn an average amount of money if its total revenue was Rs. 30 crores, but Rs. 40 crores would be necessary to guarantee the movie’s success.

The Rs. 40 cr nett doesn’t appear very likely because the movie needed to do better than Thursday in order to reach that number, which it hasn’t managed to achieve. Uunchai’s international cume is currently about 750k dollars, and for its entire run, it plans to surpass 1 million dollars.

Although movie may not have the same box office success as some of Sooraj Barjatya’s other films, it will nevertheless perform admirably, something that hasn’t happened much since the pandemic. After the epidemic, the genre has little popularity, as is seen from the audience’s modest turnout.
