The So You Think You Can Dance star and DJ for The Ellen DeGeneres Show died by suicide on December 14 at the age of 40.

Allison Holker Boss, said that he had died: “With a heavy heart, I have to tell you that my husband, Stephen, has died. Stephen brought light into every room he entered. He cared most about his family, friends, and community. Leading with love and light was the most important thing to him. He was the strongest member of our family. He was also the best husband and father, and his fans looked up to him.”

Connie wrote an Instagram Story post about how sad she was about Stephen’s death two days after he passed away. “Thank you, family and friends, for all your love, prayers, and words of support,” she wrote. “Please know that I read all your messages, texts, Facebook posts, and phone calls. I don’t know what to say right now. Please know that I will talk to you as soon as I can.”

She added a line just for him: “Stephen Laurel, your mother loves you forever and ever.”
