India cancelled the release of ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’
The release of the Pakistani blockbuster movie The Legend of Maula Jatt, which was slated to open in India on December 30, has been postponed by Indian authorities indefinitely as anticipated (today).
Although there hasn’t been a formal announcement made, numerous reports have stated that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) of India stopped the release.
To begin with, the 2016 Uri attack, which claimed the lives of 19 army members, led the Indian government to forbid Pakistani musicians and movies from being released in India. The Legend of Maula Jatt would have been the first movie to be broadcast from India after 11 years if it had been released.
Extremists in India had already threatened the owners of the theaters and others who supported the release of Lashari’s film, causing them to boycott the movie. Ameya Khopkar, the leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), stated that his organization will not permit the film to be shown anywhere in India.
There are plans to release Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s Pakistani film ‘ The Legend of Maula Jatt’ in India. It is most infuriating that an Indian company is leading this plan. Following Raj Saheb’s orders we will not let this film release anywhere in India.

The Legend of Maula Jatt is a follow-up to the legendary Pakistani film Maula Jatt from 1979. The Legend of Maula Jatt has amassed nearly PKR 200 crore in box office revenue since its October debut.
