Karan Johar says if he launches a new face, nobody will watch film
One of the most well-known and respected directors in the Indian cinema business is Karan Johar. He has helmed hit movies including My Name Is Khan, Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, all of which had exceptional box office success. And now, the ace filmmaker is looking forward to his next directorial ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ which is set to hit the screens next year.
At a round table conversation organized by Galatta Plus on Friday, a number of actors and directors, including Varun Dhawan, Karan Johar, Pooja Hegde, Anurag Kashyap, Karthik Sivakumar, Srinidhi Shetty, and more openly discussed a wide range of themes.
The well-known filmmaker Karan was questioned in this regard about his thoughts on his professional development in 2022. Johar, funnily stated, “I am just very thrilled and very appreciative for the success of Koffee With Karan. I just think it will be a wonderful backup plan if everything goes wrong (in my life). Prior to it being released, I was quite anxious. I had the impression that this was my bright future, and I am really content with it. Anyhow, joking apart.
“This year has been difficult for many filmmakers. It has, however, served as a wake-up call. I believe that if I have not heeded that wake-up call as someone, let’s say as a studio head, then I will be stupid. In our industry, delusion is a disease for which there is no cure. I also don’t want to be misled. neither to a movie’s success nor failure. All I want to do is keep learning. Today was a learning day. Every movie I’ve seen in the past two years has taught me something new. The box office has taught us a lot. I have discovered that the fundamental conviction missing from movies,” he stated.

Really, why not. Now is the time for self-promotion. I made the movie (Rocky Aur Rani) solely out of conviction. I only do that movie if it makes sense, appeals to sensibility, says something meaningful, or allows me to have fun with the starring actors, who I adore. So, my sincere hope is that it gets across. All I want to do is keep on sharing stories. There you go.
The upcoming movie Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which is being made by Dharma Productions and directed by Karan Johar. Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Ranveer Singh, and Alia Bhatt play pivotal parts in the movie.
