Maci Bookout admits to letting go of her hatred for her ex Ryan Edwards
Maci Bookout is letting go of whatever “hatred” she might have for her ex Ryan Edwards on season 2 of MTV’s “Teen Mom Family Reunion.”
During a virtual junket, the reality TV veteran, 31, who has a 14-year-old son named Bentley with Edwards, 34, tells that she worked with life coach Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, often known as “Coach B,” to lay the groundwork for a “better” co-parenting relationship.
Bookout says, “Honestly, the work I had done on myself and working through my anger, my sometimes even hatred, just going through all of that and finding what’s worth holding on to and what’s worth letting go of” was the key factor that helped make it more evident.
She continues, “Knowing the challenging aspects of my and Ryan’s relationship as co-parents make it more comfortable for me, I would think. Not any simpler, but perhaps slightly more comfortable
Bookout, Catelynn Lowell, Cheyenne Floyd, and Amber Portwood from “Teen Mom OG,” Briana DeJesus, Jade Cline, and Ashley Jones from “Teen Mom 2,” and Kayla Sessler and Kiaya Elliott from “Teen Mom Young & Pregnant” all appear in the second season of “Family Reunion.”
Along for the voyage are some of the cast members’ actual moms, who bond with their famous daughters and use counseling techniques to resolve any unresolved issues.
Sharon Bookout, Bookout’s mother, was unable to travel to Oregon, giving the “Bulletproof” author more time to concentrate on mending her broken relationship with Edwards.
The former pair, who debuted in reality on “16 & Pregnant” in 2009, has had a number of challenges over the past decade or so in the public eye, including a broken engagement, Ryan’s eventual battle with addiction, and his seeming disinterest in parenting.
Bookout told in September that she and Ryan “don’t have a connection,” haven’t communicated in years, and even don’t have one other’s cellphone numbers.
But since then, advancements have been made.
We do now have his phone number, she admits. However, you’ll simply have to wait and see about any other specifics.
Bookout adds, “Throughout this season, everyone will learn the state of everything. But Coach B was incredibly helpful because it allowed us to ascertain what part I played in Bentley and Ryan’s relationship—or lack thereof.
The mother of three is relieved to be free of any requirements to do so on camera, and she hopes to facilitate more connection with Edwards. She also shares son Maverick, 6, and daughters Jayde, 7, with her husband Taylor McKinney.
Edwards was fired from “Teen Mom OG,” which later changed into “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter,” in March 2021. Edwards and his wife Mackenzie Standifer also have two young children, Jagger and Stella.
Edwards’ parents, Jen and Larry Edwards, as well as Standifer, 25, were fired.
They left after a dramatic reunion brawl that was shown a month later and involved Bookout, her hubby, McKinney, 33, and Bentley’s paternal grandparents.
In an earlier interview, Bookout said, “We’re constantly having to talk about each other when we don’t even talk to each other. There was no way to create room or space for us to heal or move on or get over some things.”
What purpose does that serve? So it’s safe to say that it’s a tremendous relief that he won’t be appearing on the show.
Season 2 of “Teen Mom Family Reunion” premieres on MTV on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 8 p.m. ET.
