Meek Mill helps Philadelphia women go home for the holidays.

This week, the 35-year-old artist and  Alliance co-founder paid bail for 20 women. Friday, Riverside Correctional Facility freed five of them, according to a news release. Robert Rihmeek Williams, aka Meek Mill, said, “Being away from my son during the holidays destroyed my heart.” “I got it,” she said.

He added no one should spend the holidays in jail for lack of bail. “I’m pleased to assist these women celebrate with family and friends.”

The person who works to alter the criminal justice system also gave each woman a gift card.

Mill, Michael Rubin, Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter, Robert Kraft, and others started REFORM Alliance back in 2018. Since then, he has helped get 16 bills passed in 10 states, working toward “stable communities, stronger families, and more public safety for everyone,” according to a press release.

As part of its annual Season of Giving events, Mill surprised more than 50 kids who have been affected by the criminal justice system. For example, Darius Slay, Avonte Maddox, Jordan Mailata, Dallas Goedert, and Jalen Hurts spent time with the kids at a junior combine.

Then, they went to the Wells Fargo Center and talked to 76ers coach Doc Rivers. After that, they watched a game from VIP suite boxes while wearing their new Philly gear.

Mill also said some more things about the women’s releases on Instagram. This year, he has also pushed for lyrics not to be used in criminal trials.

On Saturday morning, he shared a post from REFORM on his Instagram Story. The post showed one of the women giving an emotional hug to another woman after she was let out of prison.

“They locked me up in a place far away from my family,” Mill wrote. “Blessings.”
