Nawazuddin Siddiqui has made fun of Bollywood celebrities who want high salaries for each film. The actor claimed in a recent interview that the high actor payments cause these films’ expenses to rise, which ultimately reduces their box office take. Actors shouldn’t be concerned with the box office, according to Nawazuddin, who claimed that such a paradigm was not workable.

In a recent conversation, Nawazuddin discussed the conflict between art and commerce in the world of cinema. He discussed how certain performers’ excessive fees render the budget of their films unworkable and lead to their “failure” there. Although the salaries of Bollywood stars are not made public, numerous reports have suggested that eminent performers like the three Khans demand above 100 crore every film. This sum typically includes profit sharing and distribution rights.

The actor claimed in an interview that it is the producer’s obligation to look at box office figures. Ticket sales shouldn’t be a concern for a performer. It’s a corruption of the craft, in my opinion. Why would a performer discuss box office? The celebrities who demanded 100 crores per film are the ones who have ultimately hurt the movies. A low-budget or modest-budget movie can succeed. Every time a movie has a budget that is too high for its chances of success, it will fail. There are no failures among directors, actors, or writers. The movie’s budget determines whether it will succeed or fail.

Nawazuddin said in the same exchange that strong material will always attract funding or at least economic success. “Looking at box-office numbers is the responsibility of the producer. An actor should not be bothered about ticket sales. I see it as a corruption of the craft. Why should an actor be talking about box office? The stars who charged 100 crores per film are the ones who have ended up harming the films. A small budget or a modest-budget film doesn’t fail. Every time a film’s budget is beyond the limits of viability, it will be a flop. Actors, directors, and storytellers don’t flop. It’s the film’s budget that makes it a hit or flop.”

Heropanti 2, which was released earlier this year, included Nawazuddin’s most recent appearance as the villain. He will soon be featured in Kangana Ranaut’s home movie Tiku Weds Sheru. He is currently working on five further movies, the majority of which will be released in 2023.
