William, 40, chose Boston for the second annual Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony honouring President Kennedy. The Earthshot Prize intends to encourage innovative ideas to the world’s most serious environmental concerns during the next decade.

William and Kate were joined by celebrity singers and presenters on Friday to announce the 2022 Earthshot Prize winners.

The ceremony airs Sunday and will be streamed on Monday. The U.S. stream begins at 2:00 p.m.

The ceremony followed a nine-month hunt for new environmental solutions. The selection process drew 1,000 applications, which were trimmed to 15 before Friday’s announcement in Boston.

Kenya’s Mukuru Clean Stoves won Clean Our Air. The women-founded startup uses processed charcoal, wood, and sugarcane to power burners. This burns cleaner than an open fire and a regular cookstove, producing 90% less pollution.
