The Counsellors of State Bill has cleared all stages in the House of Commons and will soon become law. It permits Princess Anne and Prince Edward to represent King Charles at formal functions.

However, Prince Harry and Prince Andrew remain on the list of stand-ins despite their retirement from active royal duties. However, the Dukes are reportedly no longer in existence.

Other counsellors of state include the Prince of Wales, Camilla, Queen Consort, and Princess Beatrice. The legislation was fast-tracked and passed the House of Commons on Thursday morning after a series of uncontested readings.

In the next twelve months, the King, the Queen Consort, and Prince William are all anticipated to go abroad; without these additions, it was thought that there would be a dearth of available stand-ins for the monarch.
