Prince Harry chose Meghan Markle from the heart.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reflect on their early romance in the first episode of their Netflix docuseries. Meghan, a divorced American actress, was not a typical royal bride.

“For so many in the family, especially the men, there can be a temptation or urge to marry someone who fits the mould,” Harry said.

Prince Harry continued, thinking of his mother Princess Diana, “Head or heart.” My mom made most, if not all, decisions from her heart, and I’m her son.

Prince Harry said he had “no early memories” of Princess Diana, who died when he was 12.

“Paparazzi swarmed most of my memories,” he said. “We rarely go on vacation without someone with a camera jumping out of a bush. Within the family, the advice is ‘don’t react, don’t feed into it.'”

Public pressure “has its fair share of drama, stress, and tears. I always see them on my mom’s face. And I guess those are the moments when I thought, okay, hang on. Maybe what am I? Who am I? What am I part of?”

In another episode, Prince Harry said his family was “impressed” by Meghan.

He said, “They seemed surprised.” “Maybe surprised a ginger could land a beautiful, smart woman.” “The fact that I was dating an American actress clouded their judgement more than anything else at the beginning,” he said.

Meghan agreed that “the actress thing was the biggest problem”

The Duchess of Sussex had to adjust to U.K. culture. royal protocol Meghan met Kate Middleton when she and Prince William had dinner. Meghan was barefoot and had tattered pants. I’ve always been a hugger and didn’t realise that bothered many Brits.

“I quickly realized that the outside formality carried over to the inside,” she said. “There’s a forward-facing way of being, then you lock the door and relax, but that formality continues over on both sides. That surprised me.” “It’s funny now that I know so much,” Meghan said. I’m glad I didn’t because I could be myself without much preparation.

Meghan performed an over-the-top curtsy when she first met Queen Elizabeth. “We were driving up, and he said, ‘You know how to curtsy, right?'” Meghan, 41, deadpanned.
