Buckingham Palace has disclosed the official date for next year’s Trooping the Colour, as well as the new responsibilities of senior members of the Royal Family.

King Charles III‘s first official birthday as monarch will be commemorated by a military procession on Horse Guards Parade, during which the monarch will greet thousands of assembled Household Division regiments.

This year’s Trooping the Colour coincided with the Platinum Jubilee festivities for the late Queen Elizabeth II and concluded in a stunning display by the Red Arrows over the Palace.

Next year, it will be held on Saturday, June 17, in keeping with its regular summer month schedule.

A prominent military position once held by the disgraced Prince Andrew has been redistributed, as revealed by the Palace.

Queen Consort Camilla will replace him as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, becoming the regiment’s first female colonel in its three-hundred-year history.

Andrew, 61, was stripped of the position along with his other honorary military titles at the beginning of the year following charges made in a high-profile US case that was ultimately settled out of court.

Catherine, Princess of Wales has been promoted to colonel of the Irish Guards, a rank previously held by her husband.

Prince William has been promoted to colonel of the Welsh Guards.

Anne, The Princess Royal as colonel of the Blue and Royals and The Duke of Kent as colonel of the Scots Guards will continue to lead their respective regiments within the Household Division.

The Palace announced that His Majesty King Charles III will hold the position of Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiments of Household Division.
