Zooey Deschanel is returning to TV, but not with a series. Discovery+ announced Dec. 1 that the New Girl alum is “reconnecting people with their food” What Am I Eating? with Zooey Deschanel will follow the She & Him singer as she handles “common food difficulties” and raises “tough questions about what Americans consume.”

This project’s origins? Zooey: “I’m interested in improving the current food supply system for everyone.” “I’m eager to learn from chefs and culinary experts about the food we eat and refute food myths.”

Zooey joins boyfriend Jonathan Scott, who co-hosts Property Brothers on Discovery+.

What Am I Eating? is Zooey’s first TV production after New Girl ended in 2018. Zooey portrayed New Girl Jessica Day for 7 seasons. She cohosts a revisit podcast with Lamorne and Hannah.

Zooey has appeared on Apple TV+’s Physical and Netflix’s StoryBots: Answer Time.

Zooey’s new TV series debuts in 2023.
