A press release states that Agatha, who is trying to fit into society, has a connection with the recently crowned monarch Charlotte (India Amarteifio) and soon finds herself under the control of her much older husband. Agatha secures her position as the queen’s compass by employing her social skills and hard-earned marital expertise, which benefits both parties.

Back in May 2021, it was revealed that a Bridgerton prequel, focusing on a younger version of Golda Rosheuvel’s character, was in development by Netflix and Shondaland.

When the series was first announced, Netflix’s Head of Global TV, Bela Bajaria, said, “Many fans had never heard the story of Queen Charlotte before Bridgerton brought her to the world. I’m glad this new series will further enrich her story and the world of Bridgerton.”

Rosheuvel, Andoh, and Ruth Gemmell will all reprise their roles from Bridgerton in the new series, which will also tease out the origin story of Lady Violet Bridgerton (played by Ruth Gemmell in Bridgerton).

In March of last year, Netflix also revealed a few new cast members, including Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta and Corey Mylchreest as Young King George. The cast also includes Cyril Nri as Lord Danbury, Richard Cunningham as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim as Adolphus, Rob Maloney as the Royal Doctor, and Hugh Sachs as Brimsley. Sam Clemmett plays Young Brimsley in the ensemble.

On September 24, Netflix released Charlotte’s first encounter with her spouse with a sneak preview clip that depicts the obstinate future queen accidentally running into her George as she tries to flee their prearranged marriage.

It should be noted that Charlotte finally marries George and establishes her throne, of course with Lady Danbury’s assistance.
