 Alec Baldwin in the fatal shooting of the film’s cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, a lawyer for the production announced Monday that “Rust” will resume filming with the actor playing the lead role.

Baldwin will continue to portray Harland Rust’s grandfather, and Joel Souza, who was wounded in the incident in October 2021, will take over as the film’s director, according to Melina Spadone, an attorney for Rust Movie Productions.

allegations were made public, a source claimed that Baldwin appeared “completely carefree and in a wonderful mood” when he left a coffee shop in New York City. “Everything was very playful.” She stated that executive producer Matt Hutchins is still married to the late cinematographer. The completion of the movie is still on schedule, according to Spadone.

Hutchins died on a film set outside Santa Fe, New Mexico, when a revolver Baldwin was rehearsing with fired a live bullet that also hit Souza.

Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies on Thursday said she planned to charge both Baldwin and the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, with two counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection with Hutchins’ death.

Baldwin in October reached a settlement of a wrongful-death lawsuit filed by the Hutchins family under which Hutchins would take a production role in “Rust” and filming would resume this month.

Baldwin has denied responsibility for the shooting, saying live ammunition should never have been allowed on set and weapons handlers were responsible for firearm safety. (Reuters)
