BUCHAREST: In a criminal case involving allegations of rape and human trafficking, Andrew Tate claimed on Wednesday that there was no justice in Romania and that his case file was empty.

Since December 29, Tate, his brother Tristan, and two Romanian female suspects have been held by police for a criminal investigation into allegations that they formed a gang to sexually exploit women, which they deny.

Their arrest was extended by a Romanian court last week until February 27. According to the prosecution, the Tate brothers lured their victims into a relationship or marriage by charming them and making up their desire for one.

Moreover, they claimed that Andrew Tate, a former professional kickboxer with dual US and British citizenship, sexually assaulted one of the victims in March of last year. Tate has always denied this.

“They know we have done nothing wrong,” Tate told reporters as he was brought in for further questioning by anti-organised crime prosecutors, the first comments made to the media since his arrest.

“This file is completely empty. Of course it’s unjust, there is no justice in Romania unfortunately.”

When asked if he had ever injured women, Tate responded, “Of course not.”

Romanian authorities announced earlier this month that they had seized assets and funds totaling 18 million lei ($3.99 million), including expensive cars and real estate, as part of the probe.

“There is no evidence against me,” Tristan Tate told reporters on Wednesday. “The authorities are planning to steal my cars and steal my money. That is why I am in jail.”
