On Wednesday, the talk show host discussed how his friendship with the “Wild Blue” singer differs from those of his other close friends during an appearance on Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi.

Andy Cohen, 54, told the host, “John Mayer is someone who is tremendously in touch with his feelings.” He began saying, “You know what, I must tell you something — I love you,” pretty early on in our friendship.

He is someone who can say, “I love you and I cherish you and I cherish our friendship,” and other things that straight males aren’t always expected to say, the man added.

Cohen discussed parenting, his friendship with Anderson Cooper, and his love life in other parts of the conversation. The entire interview is currently accessible across all iHeart Media.

The 45-year-old guitarist gave a heartfelt tribute to Cohen in February during his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.

“Andy is genuinely everyone’s friend. I’ve accompanied him on walks across the city and FaceTime calls as he goes about his day, and every time he’s been recognised, he has said “hello” as if I were a buddy. Hey Andy! I loved what you said about de Blasio! What’s up Andy! Additionally, he is my dear friend. And there are times in life when all you need is a reliable friend, he added.

He is a Deadhead and a Madonna fan. He has the loose attitude of a C-lister, yet he parties like an A-lister,” Mayer continued. “I cherish Andy more than words can express. He is a wonderful person, a hilarious coworker, a caring son and brother, and more lately, he has developed into a proud, involved, and committed father.

Benjamin Cohen, Cohen’s third-born child, turned three on that day. The singer-songwriter took a picture with the birthday child to commemorate the event. Lucy Eve, Cohen’s 8-month-old daughter, is also his child.

Cohen posted a sweet picture of Mayer playing guitar for Benjamin at his Los Angeles home in December 2020, and he labelled it with the ideal Grateful Dead allusion.

The two’s preferred band, Twinkle Twinkle, which Mayer is a member of, was referred to as “Twinkle Twinkle > Bertha” by Cohen at the time. Ben was observing his dad’s friend strum while Mayer played a bright purple guitar in the picture.

Since their mutual love of the Grateful Dead, which they saw on a road trip in 2015, Cohen and Mayer have been close friends. (Mayer currently performs with Dead and Company, the most recent iteration of the band.)

Some would say that John Mayer and I share an odd friendship. I’m known as the guy who stirs the s— on late-night TV, and he’s one of our greatest living guitarists,” Cohen said in an article for Entertainment Weekly at the time. “Our shared love of the Grateful Dead is the one thing that unites us. We therefore utilised the band’s five final performances this summer in Santa Clara, California, as an excuse to go on a road trip and hang together.
