Candiace Dillard’s hubby Chris Basset not well after RHOP rumours
Chris Bassett, the husband of Candiace Dillard, was “not well” following the unfounded rumours that were spread during Season 7 of “The Real Housewives of Potomac.”
He had health issues. Candiace Dillard, 36, promotes her part in ALLBLK’s scripted TV drama “Hush” in this week’s episode of “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast. “Not well, bitch,’ as Dorinda [Medley] would say,” she says.
“He had been ill for a while. Gizelle [Bryant] created this portrait of him, and for him, it was a mental breakdown.
During a one-on-one conversation that took place behind the scenes at the “RHOP” Season 6 reunion, Bryant, 52, made the notable accusation that Chris Basset, 44, made her feel “totally uncomfortable.”
After a group dance lesson that aired in October, the co-host of the “Reasonably Shady” podcast informed Dillard of this, which confused the “Drive Back” singer.
“She portrayed him in a way that wasn’t true to himself. She fabricated a story that was wholly untrue, hurtful, and harmful, she tells us.
She says, “We were astounded by the number of messages and comments from folks who were calling BS and stating they didn’t believe it. However, 0.5% of people will always claim that “Oh, he did it” or some other claim.
Bassett is doing “better today,” according to Dillard, who also notes that Bryant’s choice to publicly disparage him caused him “extremely hurt.”
“There are online headlines that imply that my husband is a predator, and you can’t reverse that,” the woman said. And for that reason, the ability for individuals to invent things is so harmful, according to her. It is cruel, and it deeply hurt him.
Dillard, who married Chris Basset in August 2018, suddenly recovered her composure while filming and shattered the fourth wall to defend her husband.
Bryant’s admission that Bassett “did not” behave in a predatory manner during the reunion prompted Dillard to address the scene’s producers and camera crew in person.
“So this exists?” you ask. She muttered an expletive before leaving Bryant. What are we doing when Chris is being attacked, exactly?
She and a producer named Eric then got into an argument.
You don’t want me here if it’s going to be about dissing my f-king spouse, she said. “Michael Darby, the ass-grabbing motherf-ker who enjoys truly making people uncomfortable, is available for that. My hubby is not available for that; he is.
The actress’s strong performance, as well as her dubious comments about castmate Ashley Darby’s estranged hubby, who has been accused of groping a “Potomac” crew member in 2018, caused the scene to go viral on social media. (Michael, 63, subsequently had his sexual assault charges dropped.)
“As I’m sitting here, I have no idea what Gizelle is going to talk to me about when she starts talking. Dillard describes the on-camera discussion to us and says of Bryant’s performance, “I have no idea. It was like a choreographed Broadway musical that sold two tickets.
She continues, “In my head, I’m thinking, ‘What’s going on? What is happening? How are we acting?
When “RHOP” ended up this summer, Bryant previously told Page Six that she and Dillard were in a “nice place,” but she added that their subsequent involvement in “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip” Season 3 “didn’t end up well.” The women appear to be single at the moment.
Not just Bryant from “RHOP” has leveled serious accusations against Bassett. Ashley, 34, asserted that Bassett had sent her an inappropriate Instagram message late at night at the beginning of Season 7.
Later, it was discovered that the chef had only extended an invitation to the TikTok fanatic and her buddy to visit the rooftop bar he oversees in Washington, DC.
Her growing connection with Dillard was finally ended by Ashley’s charge against Bassett, and things only got worse when Ashley’s friend Deborah Williams later claimed that Bassett made a move at her when Season 7 filming began.
In the episode that aired Sunday night, that drama gets heated up.
“On this program, you can’t be blissfully married. With a sigh, Dillard adds, “That’s the norm. “They’re going to come for you if you’re happily married; they’re going to attack, and you just have to be ready with your marital armor, which we are.”
In an effort to stay current, Dillard labels Bryant and Ashley’s actions as “poor acting.”
The Bravo TV show “Potomac Housewives” is meant to reflect our real lives. So, if you don’t have a relevant personal experience to share, go sit down or stand in the unemployment line. You should go there, the actress who portrays trophy wife Syleena Gibson on “Hush” advises.
Gizelle and Ashley, I’m sure there are tryouts for additional roles on “Hush” for Season 2 if you wanted to work in written television.
Dillard has thought about leaving reality TV as her career in entertainment soars. The former pageant queen is remaining put for the time being, though, as the platform is only enhancing her achievements, particularly in music.
In my home, we frequently have this discussion. So when I first joined this platform, I wanted to use it to help me get where I am,” she explains. It is functioning. I will remain here as long as I am enjoying myself on ‘Housewives,’ which was put to a lot of strain in Season 7.
Dillard finished her East Coast tour in 2022, had a live performance at BravoCon, and was ready for the Dec. 30 re-release of her debut record, “Deep Space.” The tune “Insecure,” which was updated in cooperation with hip-hop legend Trina, is included in the deluxe edition.
“I adore the following and the number of supporters I have gathered on this platform. I will always be appreciative to Bravo for their assistance,” Dillard says. “My music does not have to be included. They are really supportive of me and do not have to highlight everything I do.
The R&B singer, who debuted on the program in Season 3 of 2018, quips that she gets along with “a handful of [her] castmates on most days,” which makes being a “Real Housewife” “still worth it” and, at times, even “fun.”
On ALLBLK, new episodes of “Hush” are released every Thursday. Bravo broadcasts “The Real Housewives of Potomac” every Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.
